About the Event
Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga that targets the deep connective tissues, such as ligaments, joints, and fascia. By holding poses for an extended period, typically 3-5 minutes, Yin Yoga enhances flexibility and promotes a meditative state, allowing you to reconnect with your body and mind.
Unlike Yang exercises, which are dynamic and focus on building muscle strength and cardiovascular health (think Vinyasa, running, or weightlifting), Yin Yoga is about stillness and deep, passive stretching.
Yin and Yang complement each other, creating a balanced approach to physical and mental well-being.
The 3 Core Principles of Yin Yoga: *Find Your Edge – Gently come into a pose and find an appropriate depth that feels challenging yet sustainable. It’s about finding a balance between effort and ease.
*Be Still – Once you find your edge, commit to being still. This stillness allows your muscles to relax and your connective tissues to stretch and strengthen.
*Hold the Pose – Embrace the stillness by holding the pose for an extended time. This practice cultivates patience and mindfulness, inviting you to observe your sensations and thoughts without judgment.
Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or a beginner, this practice will help you slow down, breathe deeply, and find tranquility amidst the chaos of everyday life.
